Ray
has been in and out of prison throughout his life and has been a drug addict
for many years. After his last stint in prison, Ray decided to get himself
back on track and cleaned up. He needed to get his own place, to get into a
rehab programme and get his finances sorted.
Ray first heard of
GCS through a friend. He came into the bank and asked about opening an
account so that he could get his benefits paid in. Ray applied for a social
fund loan knowing it would be paid straight into his GCS account and not
paid directly into his hand, withdrawing the temptation. Only getting access
to his cash through coming into the bank, has helped him get some stability
back into his life.
Ray has now settled
into his new flat, completed his rehab programme and is now doing voluntary
work to build up his experience and work history for future employers. His
next goal is to get himself a full-time job and have his wages paid into
Grand Central Savings. Ray said having the bank account was a major step in
his life, and one less thing to worry about. |
