Gillian
left home due to personal problems with her father and went to live in a
hostel. With help from her support worker, she eventually moved into her own
flat. Gillian could not get access to mainstream banking but it was felt
that GCS would provide her with some structure on managing her money, paying
bills etc.
She was encouraged
by her support worker to open an account with GCS for her Income Support and
Disability Living Allowance. She now comes down to the bank on her own to
withdraw money to pay her bills. The staff at GCS also help Gillian work out
her money calendar.
Gillian feels that,
by having her own bank account and help from the GCS staff, she is more
independent and has more confidence, when dealing with her own finances. |
