Jackie Cropper is Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of Grand Central Savings and has around 25 years experience working in deprived communities and with disadvantaged people. Prior to taking up the post with GCS, she worked for over 14 years with The Big Issue in Scotland group of companies, where she served at Chief Executive and director level. During this period, she also served as Managing Director of @ Work Scotland, an associated company specialising in job recruitment and progress-to-work initiatives. Before joining the Big Issue, Jackie worked for an eleven-year period in Wester Hailes, a large Edinburgh housing scheme plagued by deprivation and social disadvantage, eventually leading a neighbourhood work programme aimed at encouraging residents to take greater interest and involvement in their own community. Although now mainly concentrating on issues around financial inclusion, Jackie continues to take an active interest in a wide range of initiatives aimed at tackling poverty and social deprivation. Jackie also chairs the board of Blackrock Productions Community Interest Company, a film and multi-media company dedicated to highlighting the problems, and promoting the interests of, marginalised groups and individuals. |
